BrakeNet
has been created to co-ordinate academic and industrial engineering in
order to advance braking technology and it's effects within automotive
braking systems. Funded by a three year grant from the UK's Engineering
and Physical Science Research Council (EPSRC), the network was established
in 1998 with the following objectives:
| - |
To
establish a core group of Members and, in some cases, sub-groups
with particular interests |
| - |
To
set up a website and other means of information exchange between
Members |
| - |
To arrange a programme of workshops, seminars and laboratory
visits |
| - |
To
strengthen existing links arising from current research projects and
to encourage new links leading to collaborative research project
proposals |
| - |
To
publicise the importance of the braking industry to a wider audience
by means of journal articles, seminar proceedings, workshops etc. |
Originally run by Leeds University,
BrakeNet has now been transferred to Evacol Polymer Developments Ltd and
is run on a commercial basis.
